    1) Rights to Ricky Sanchez

    sixers

    Show Summary

From the show’s site: The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is a podcast that is sort-of about the Sixers and is hosted by Spike Eskin and Michael Levin. It is the only known podcast about the Sixers. https://www.rightstorickysanchez.com/

Spike Eskin is one of the hosts of The Rights To Ricky Sanchez. He worked in radio in Philadelphia, and is now based out of the New York City market. You can follow him on Twitter @SpikeEskin.

Michael Levin is one of the hosts of The Rights To Ricky Sanchez. He works in television in Los Angeles. You can find him on Twitter @Michael_Levin

    Apple Podcasts Rating: 4.8 / 5

    Host rapport

    • Spike and Mike have un-forced and genuine differing personality types that lead to engaging banter. Mike’s more freeform in his thoughts and Spike is more host.
    • If you’re a Philadelphia sports fan, you’re familiar with self-deprecation and the guys lean into that here.
    • Spike and Mike aren’t afraid to argue and disagree (wildly) – it a great balance.
    • Long running jokes and callbacks that work well and feel natural – you feel like a part of the team after listening for so long. Heck, the pod’s name is a joke based on an old, random, and inconsequential Sixers trade.

    Frequency of new episodes

    • Postgame: Sometimes after each game, but not on back to backs.
    • In-season and draft/free agency: Two episodes a week.
    • Offseason/dead zone: At least an episode a week, and it’s always fun.

    Podcast format

    • Audio Quality & Production: 10/10 audio quality – ie, no one sounds like they’re on speakerphone in a tunnel. Easily the best put together podcast. Spike knowns what he’s doing from a long career in radio.
    • Structure: The hosts clearly understand and have experience in the podcast medium, so you’ll have structure, recurring segments that drive conversation, and well thought out conversations. You can also stream live on YouTube.

    2) Sixers Beat

    Show summary

From the show’s page: Derek Bodner (of The Daily Six) and Rich Hofmann (The Athletic Philadelphia) bring you an insiders perspective on the state of the Philadelphia 76ers.

    Apple Podcasts Rating: 4.8 / 5

    Host rapport

    • Derek (also known as Godner) and Rich are long-time friends who connected when both were covering the beat for the 76ers.
    • The familiarity leads to natural conversation and a comfortable rapport, and since both are professional reporters, you get a more unbiased podcast on the Sixers.
    • The guys are both really smart and know basketball inside and out, with thoughts to the long term and short term success of the team.

    Frequency of new episodes

    • Postgame / In-season / draft/free agency: One or two pods a week (both are writers by nature, so they’re putting out more editorial content for their respective sites)
    • Offseason/dead zone: At least an episode a week.

    Podcast format

    • Audio Quality & Production: 9/10 – Rich and Derek have a good audio setup – you never run into an issue.
    • Structure: The guys keep the show quick and to the point, rarely heading in a meandering direction – you get the details you need without a lot of fluff.

    3) Liberty Ballers

    Show summary

From the show’s page: The official home for audio programming from Liberty Ballers, SB Nation’s community for fans of the Philadelphia 76ers.

    Apple Podcasts Rating: 4.3 / 5

    Host rapport

    • What’s different with this pod is that you’ll get podcasts from quite a few different hosts, such as Jas Kang, Dave Early, and Jackson Frank.
    • Sometimes you’ll get a single host going through the latest news, other times they’ll join up for a discussion based pod.
    • When together as a group, the rapport is familiar, if not a little generic.
    • Why this pod makes the list – the volume of content that comes out is pretty prolific. When you’re looking for something sixers and no one else is outputting a pod, Liberty Ballers will likely have one.

    Frequency of new episodes

    • Postgame: Pod almost always after every game.
    • In-season and draft/free agency: Multiple episodes a week, sometimes daily (even if it’s just a quick 15 minutes).
    • Offseason/dead zone: Multiple episodes a week.

    Podcast format

    • Audio Quality & Production: 7/10 – The audio equipment is a bit spotty based on who’s hosting. Sometimes sounds like they’re on speakerphone, or the audio for the pod itself is really low.
    • Structure: Some shows follow more structure than others – like Jas gets through his daily pod in an efficient manner while covering the daily news on the team.
