Trading with players in Fortnite allows you to share your gear and other fun items.
Unfortunately, there is no setup official trading system or outpost in Fortnite that allows you to trade items.
However, there is a workaround that lets you trade some items with other players while you’re mid-game. Continue below to see how to trade some items in Fortnite.
Items you CAN trade in Fortnite
There’s only a few items you can use the workaround with for trading. You can trade or share the following items in Fortnite:
- Weapons
- Traps
- Crafting materials
Items you CANNOT trade in Fortnite
There is no workaround to trade or share the following items in the game:
- XP
- Founder’s Coins
- Loot Llamas
- V-bucks
- Schematics
- Heroes
- Survivors
- Defenders
Step 1 – Find a secure location during a live game
The first step in trading is to make sure you’ve found a safe spot with your trading partner and you’re in the middle of a game. You’ll want to make sure there’s no other gamers around.
This ensures that the person you want to trade with is the only person to swap an item with.
Step 2 – Drop the item you want to trade
Next – you’ll want to drop the item on the ground that you wish to trade.
To drop, select the item in your inventory and select drop. If you’re using a PC, you can drag the item from your menu and drop it on the ground.
Step 3 – Pick up the item from the ground
Finally, it’s very simple to pick up an item in Fortnite. This is how you’ll complete the ‘trade’ workaround in Fortnite.
Walk over or near the item, then press the corresponding key or button to pick up the item. Just like that, you traded with another person!
